ACDelco was on the top of the marquee at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals and Kurt Johnson's ACDelco Cavalier was at the top of the Pro Stock qualifying order. Johnson won his first Pro Stock pole of the season and the 21st of his career with a track-record 6.921-second elapsed time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kurt's father Warren was second on the qualifying list with an identical 6.921-second time; K.J. won the tiebreaker with a faster speed, 199.20 mph to his father's 199.11 mph clocking. It was the 29th time that the Johnson family has qualified 1-2 in national event competition. "Qualifying is all about making the right decisions at the right time," said Johnson. "We knew we had the power to make a good run, and it all came together. It was cool to qualify the ACDelco Cavalier in the No. 1 spot at the ACDelco-sponsored race."
Kurt's Cavalier had a new look that weekend with special KISS graphics that celebrated the legendary rock 'n' roll band. Band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and ACDelco General Manager Scott Mackie were the co-Grand Marshals of the second annual ACDelco race.
